HORSE and pony lovers descended in their hundreds for the family-themed showjumping event at the Churchfield Farm Show.

HORSE and pony lovers descended in their hundreds for the family-themed showjumping event at the Churchfield Farm Show.Handler and dressage expert Anna George (22) and showjumper Kirsty Hill (15) organised the event at Churchfield Farm, in King's Dyke, near Whittlesey, on Sunday for all the local horses, ponies and their owners to enjoy.

There was showjumping for adults and children, minimus and chase-me-charlie, and for those who didn't want to get on a horse, there was a smelly horse tombola, raffle, cake stall and hand-made jewellery stalls.

Competitors raised more than 400, which will go to a charity of their choice.

Wendy George, who also helped to organise the event, said: "It was a fantastic day, enjoyed by everyone, and we are hoping to make it a regular event.

"It was all about local people coming together to share a horse-riding hobby.

"Tracey Papworth won the chase-me-charlie with her horse tip Top Hot Shot, and Rhiannon Walsh won the young handler with her Shetland Pony Tom Thumb.

"There were so many horses in all shapes and sizes. The event was a credit to Anna and Kirsty, who organised it. We can't wait for next year."
