AFTER over six months of planning, rehearsing and set building, the final production for Hampton Amateur Theatre Society went with a bang. The group staged their production of comedy show Playing Away in Yaxley over the weekend of September 29 and 30.

The group told the story of the antics and relationships between the men’s and women’s darts teams at a local pub.

The society played to a full house on both days of the weekend, with the 400 people gathered at the Amenity Hall roaring with laughter throughout both the shows.

The society said that the show went extremely well, and they were delighted with the reception they received.

Peterborough Mayor Marion Todd attended the play on Sunday, and she said: “It was excellent, a really good comedy.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the play, and it was very professional, and well thought out.

“It is nice to see things like an amateur theatre society running in Hampton

“It is lovely to see communities coming together like Hampton is.

“Hampton is still very new, and there is a lot of diversity, but it is clearly a strong community.”

After a well deserved party to celebrate the end of the show on Friday, HATS will now take a break, before meeting again on Tuesday, November 6.
