Fund-raising villagers support Sue Ryder Care

KIND-hearted villagers have donated hundreds of pounds to a Peterborough-based charity following a raft of fund-raising activities.

KIND-hearted villagers have donated hundreds of pounds to a Peterborough-based charity following a raft of fund-raising activities.Maxey Village Hall trustees donated 350 to Sue Ryder Care last month with cash generously given by village residents during several fund-raisers by the hall committee.

The most successful event was the annual Maxey and Etton carol-singing float last December.

The trustees, who represent the Maxey Community Association, in itself a charity, split their contributions each year between a diverse range of worthy causes, including Papworth Hospital.

Hall trustee and Northborough ward city councillor Peter Hiller said: “We recognise that many of our villagers have, at some time in their lives, been affected by the loss or serious illness of a close friend or family member.

“We hall trustees are ordinary folk wanting to help these marvellous organisations.

“If we can assist in a small way to lessen the overheads they incur it helps them to spend more on front-line palliative care.”
