FROM salsa dancing and dental checks to football and reading, youngsters have been learning the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle.Youngsters at Farcet Primary School, in St Marys Street, Farcet, near Peterborough, have been focusing their learning on healthy living.

As part of their week-long activites and to give the children a break from exams, they have been learning the importance of keeping fit through salsa dancing and sport while learning that rest and relaxation is also a crucial part to a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

Throughout the rest of the week, the youngsters will be asked to switch their TVs off before bedtime and instead read a book, listen to a talk from a dental nurse, hold a sports day and take part in a reading session.

Headteacher Julie Branch said: "The children seem to be really enjoying the activities we have put on.

"They understand that they need to have healthy food and exercise but often don't realise that sleep is also important.

"The focus weeks we hold are always welcomed by our pupils who like the opportunity to try different ways of learning."
