CHARITY organisers are urging people to get on their bikes for a good cause. The British Heart Foundation (BHF) and Peterborough Minster Rotary Club are holding the Villages of Rockingham Forest sponsored bike ride on June 28.
Now in its seventh year, about 200 cyclists are expected to set off from Ferry Meadows Country Park, in Peterborough and take on the five, 25 or 40 mile routes around the picturesque countryside.
Last year’s ride raised more than 6,000, half of which went towards the BHF’s vital work on heart research, care and prevention and half to Peterborough Minster Rotary Club, which will be marshalling the route on the day.
The organisers hope to raise even more money this year.
The event’s top individual fund-raiser will receive a new bike, courtesy of Bristows Cycles of Peterborough.
Volunteer for BHF and co-organiser of the event Brian Crack said: “We are delighted to be once again joining forces with Peterborough Minster Rotary club for the seventh year.”
