AS a chapter of a Peterborough school closes this summer, all of those associated with Bushfield Community College are invited to attend an evening of reminiscing. When the summer term finishes next month, the school, in Orton Goldhay, will shut its doors as a college, before reopening as Bushfield Academy in September.

Former pupils and staff of the school are invited to attend the event, which is designed to celebrate its 31 year history and recognise its rebirth as an academy.

Principal Eric Winstone, who is one of two current staff members who started work at Bushfield on its first day in September 1978, said: "It's going to be very emotional when our college is no more.

"However, our future is full of promise and the establishment of our new academy will be a time of excitement, challenge and opportunity that will greatly benefit pupils, staff and all members of our community."

Entry to the event, which takes place at the college on Saturday, July 11, from 6pm, is ticket only.

Tickets can be obtained by calling the school on 01733 233014 or e-mailing celebration@bushfield.co.uk

If anyone has photos, press cuttings or any memorabilia relating to the school, then please give the school a call.
