British Sausage Week will go with a banger

SHOPPERS will be able to sample a variety of bangers as city butchers celebrate British Sausage Week.

SHOPPERS will be able to sample a variety of bangers as city butchers celebrate British Sausage Week.Staff at Woodlands Butchers, in the market food hall, in Peterborough, will be slicing up Cumberland, Lincolnshire and premium pork sausages and handing out free samples – perfect for a traditional cold sausage sandwich from November 4 to November 6.

Hot sausages will also be barbecued and offered to shoppers on November 7 and 8.

Owner Keith Woodland, who opened his butcher shop in the city 24 years ago, said: "We always like to do our bit for British Sausage Week.

"It's a time when we normally double the weight of sausages produced, which shows just how much we love our bangers in Peterborough.

"We'll be giving out cold and hot samples of three kinds of sausages to suit every palette, from the spicy to the traditional type of pork sausage which we all know and love."

Cabinet member for the environment Cllr Wayne Fitzgerald added: "The market has a wealth of different trades and I would encourage shoppers to go along and see what is on offer."
