A-LIST actors were not the only slice of Hollywood excitement to hit Wansford yesterday (Tuesday) – dozens of 007 fanatics also pitched up at the station ahead of the release of the latest Bond film.More than 40 enthusiasts from the United States and Canada took a trip on the Nene Valley Railway as part of a Bond tour of Britain, which will culminate in a trip to the world premiere of Quantum of Solace in London's Leicester Square this evening.

Editor of US movie magazine Cinema Retro Lee Pfeiffer has been arranging the Bond pilgrimages since 1996, with a tour taking place whenever a new Bond film is released.

Wansford is one of a number of sights included on the tours because it was used as a location for both Octopussy and Goldeneye.

Mr Pfeiffer said: "The Nene Valley Railway has a movie heritage which most British people are unaware is in their own back yard and it is an unusual and beautiful location, particularly for people from overseas. We've got 43 people on this tour; most of them are from the United States but some are from Canada and we've got one guy who's come from Norway.

"They absolutely love seeing the locations and everyone's really looking forward to the premiere."

Bond fan Alan Stephenson, who comes from California and works as a designer for internet auction site eBay, said the trip was unmissable – despite the mixed response from critics to the latest Bond movie.

He said: "I missed the last one because I was convinced the movie was going to be horrible and didn't want to spend the money, but it ended up being one of the biggest regrets of my life.

"Die Another Day (in 2002) was a terrible movie but I will always remember the experience of the premiere and the people I met there. That's what the tour is all about."
