THE British Franchise Association (BFA) is currently launching its annual bfa HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards, which look to recognise the best of the best in franchising.As an award that has been running for more than two decades, it is recognised as the top industry accolade. However, what do these awards really mean to the majority of people who aren't in the franchising industry?
Today, franchising, as a whole industry, contributes 11.4 billion to the UK economy and employs nearly half a million people. It also contains many of the brands and outlets that you see every day. So it is likely that you are already a consumer of a franchise business, whether you know it or not. Either way you want to be sure that you are buying from a reputable, secure and quality business. These awards celebrate those businesses that have demonstrated businesses excellence in line with the strict ethics and standards of the bfa.
A franchise network that invests in these standards and cares about the individual franchisee business owners that you and I buy from is a great benefit to us as a consumer.
There are many franchised businesses established around the Peterborough area and it is these businesses that are able to provide a benefit to consumers where many other businesses can't. As individual local businesses they are able to provide the service, knowledge, understanding and local support that you want from a local business.
However, as part of a larger franchise network, they also benefit from the support, stability, confidence and cost savings that come with larger businesses. It is a combination that has seen franchise businesses continue to remain resilient, even over the past couple of years when times have been tougher.
And what about those who are thinking of franchising as a way to start their own business? There are a host of valuable resources out there, including exhibitions, such as the upcoming British & International Franchise Exhibition at London Olympia on March 19 and 20.
