Kestrel aids rapid completion of homes
A DEVELOPMENT of affordable homes at Northorpe, near Bourne, has been constructed using timber frames supplied by Kestrel Timber Frame - the Market Deeping-based manufacturer of timber frames for buildings. It is helping to provide good quality housing for local people who cannot afford to buy their own homes.
A DEVELOPMENT of affordable homes at Northorpe, near Bourne, has been constructed using timber frames supplied by Kestrel Timber Frame - the Market Deeping-based manufacturer of timber frames for buildings. It is helping to provide good quality housing for local people who cannot afford to buy their own homes. Bourne-based builder Larkfleet Homes is building the 13-property scheme in Beck Way for Axiom Housing Association. The development comprises a range of two and three-bedroomed houses for affordable rent and is nearing completion.
Kestrel designed the frames based on building drawings supplied by Larkfleet and manufactured them in its factory at Market Deeping before its highly experienced team delivered the frames to site and erected them. The builders have been able to construct the development in a fraction of the time required by conventional construction techniques.
Karl Hick, managing director of Larkfleet Group, said: "Timber-framed buildings are becoming increasingly popular. Building using timber frames is more environmentally-friendly than using more traditional methods and allows houses to be built more quickly to very high standards of quality."
Jamie Gilligan, of Kestrel, added: "By using our timber frames Larkfleet has been able to control its costs and reduce the amount of time it takes to construct new buildings, helping it to remain ahead in the current highly competitive property market.
"The Northorpe development also meets environmental building standards which highlight Larkfleet's and Axiom's commitment to creating affordable, well-built and energy-efficient homes. The homes are built to demanding environmental standards which will, for example, reduce residents' fuel bills because of the high levels of insulation."
The new homes are helping to secure the economic future of the village by helping to provide potential customers for local services and homes for children who will use local schools.
