Peterborough exclusive machinery company Global Rebar Services (GRS) has started the new year with the launch of a new water jet cutting service. Local businesses can now have virtually any material cut by water, including stone, stainless steel and foam.Managing director Paul Smith said: "We have sold a number of water jet cutting machines to businesses across the UK. We also have a water jet cutter at our Peterborough showroom which we use for demos.

"In recent months, we have had a number of enquiries for people looking to get materials cut by water. This service is ideal for a business that doesn't want to invest in their own water jet cutter, or is looking for a supplier nearer to home."

Paul added: "Water jet cutting is the most environmentally-friendly way to cut as it neither uses nor produces any dangerous chemicals – ideal for any company looking to improve their green credentials."

Quick to take advantage of the new service from GRS is Jez D'Augustino, from Direct Stone and Granite.

Jez explained: "I have struggled in the past to find a local, reliable company to get my granite kitchen worktops cut. It's great news for me now that GRS can offer this. By cutting with water, it's a cleaner and quicker process. Also, GRS is in Eastern Industry, within walking distance from my own premises."

New business has not been restricted to Peterborough, however, with orders already in from a London designer.

Paul said: "I have cut a number of intricate designs in agate for a jeweller that is launching her new range next month. One of the beauties of cutting with water is that you can make very precise cuts, with less material waste."

GRS is offering a 10 per cent discount on all water jet cutting work commissioned in January.
