WINNING the title of Business of the Year was a great accolade for city firm Princebuild in a "really tight-run race"."It speaks highly of what we have achieved in the last couple of years," said director Jon Pudney.
In appreciation of a collective effort, director Mark Asplin gave a big thank-you to all staff not only in Peterborough, but also in other branches of the business, in Nottingham, Spalding, Market Rasen, Northampton and Bedford.
Providing a comprehensive building construction service, Princebuild Ltd has a trading history dating back almost 38 years.
The company has been heavily involved with the construction of housing developments and industrial premises around the Peterborough area and in 1988 acquired land in Fengate to build its premises, which now forms the company's headquarters.
Between 2004 and 2008 turnover increased by some 69 per cent, from 17 million to 29 million, with 32 per cent of this increase in just the last financial year to 2008.
Princebuild has built up an enviable client portfolio which director Stuart Pudney believes is due to delivering an unquestionable quality product on time, with a consistently good performance and professionalism along with continuous investment in its infrastructure and the latest technology.
Business of the Year Award, sponsored by Barclays Commercial: This award, the merging of two categories, is given for exceptional performance in profitability and impact on the economy over the last 12 months. Turnover should be more than 2 million.

E BOWMAN & Sons was originally formed in 1886 in Stamford by skilled carver Edward Bowman, and is now a nationally renowned builder, specialising in quality conservation and construction, repair and renovation projects.
The company remains privately owned with two offices, in Stamford and Peterborough, and is moving to larger premises by the end of the year.
The company has reported a growth in contracts from an average 1.2 million in 2008 to 3 million this year. Its reported 2009 forecast turnover is up from 15 million to 18 million.
