Were mystery lights spotted in sky a UFO?

A couple have re-ignited the great Peterborough area UFO mystery after spotting a series of strange lights floating across the night sky.

A couple have re-ignited the great Peterborough area UFO mystery after spotting a series of strange lights floating across the night sky.Lisa Snitch, from Whittlesey, contacted The Evening Telegraph to describe how she caught sight of the unusual spectacle with her husband, about 15 minutes after midnight on New Year's Day.

Their experience is the latest in a long line of mysterious heavenly sightings in and around the city in recent months – only some of which have been explained.

Mrs Snitch said: "My husband and I were celebrating the new year at home in Whittlesey, and we were at our dining room table when the clock struck 12.

"About 15 minutes later, my husband noticed some strange lights in the sky, so we went out into our garden to investigate.

"We could see between six and eight lights, which were bright yellowy-orange in colour and were moving very slowly, with no noise.

"The part that struck me was one of the lights moved rapidly, overtaking another and then rapidly back.

"There is no way any aircraft could have done that at such a speed, nor could they have been fireworks."

Mrs Snitch has appealed for ET readers to come forward with an explanation for the strange phenomenon.

Her sighting follows another above the city in October, when residents in Werrington reported seeing a fireball streaking across the night sky.

It turned out to be an "unusually large" meteor.

Other strange lights were spotted in Wisbech in November and above Peterborough in August – the latter of which was said to have been a recently-restored Vulcan bomber in flight.
