Video: Aston is enjoying an X-tra busy time

YOU would forgive JLS singer Aston Merrygold for taking a break following his mammoth 10-week stint on X Factor, but the former city schoolboy has been busier than ever.

YOU would forgive JLS singer Aston Merrygold for taking a break following his mammoth 10-week stint on X Factor, but the former city schoolboy has been busier than ever. The popular four-piece act has been gigging around the clock, visiting as many cities and generating as many new fans as they can since they finished a close second to X Factor winner Alexandra Burke in December 2008.

From Birmingham to Glasgow, all across London, down to Southampton and back up again to Newcastle the JLS bandwagon has been travelling all over Great Britain.

But despite the lengthy hours and long car journeys, Aston, taking time out from his busy schedule to relax at his family home in West Town, is just happy to be doing what he loves.

"It's been manic, club gig after club gig after club gig," he said.

"The day after the final it was nice, we had a day off to chill and then a meeting in London with our management and they said 'this is your diary' and there was about seven club gigs on it, so we thought that wasn't too bad.

"But then they kept coming in saying there's another gig and now it's every day. We're doing three gigs a night sometimes, but the more work the merrier.

"From tomorrow until April I think we've got four days off, but that's not a bad thing for us, because that's what we want to be doing."

In three weeks' time, the JLS juggernaught rolls into Peterborough for two club night appearances at the soon-to- open Club Metro, in London Road.

And although he is delighted and excited to be making the appearances, Aston is quick to stress that it's just a 'pre-thanks' for the support the city has given him over the last few months.

He added: "Obviously it's a special one for me because it's my home town and I'm expecting it to be hyper, but I want to stress to people it's not a concert, it is a club event.

"Touch wood, fingers crossed, we get to come back and perform somewhere as big as Broadway and do a spin-off concert just JLS, but this is JLS at Metro.

"It's a party vibe and a club night, so don't wear your best threads because you're going to be dancing. People should get their tickets early to avoid disappointment, but we will be back playing at other venues."
