VANDALS caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to equipment used at last weekend's Firework Fiesta.A generator was destroyed by fire and two tower lights were damaged in the early hours of Sunday morning following the display at Ferry Meadows.

They also tried to push a third light tower into a lake but were unsuccessful.

The equipment had been used to illuminate the path from the car park to the display area.

Detective Sergeant Adam Fraser said: "This was a criminal and senseless act of vandalism and I am keen to catch those responsible.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area whether they saw anything suspicious and contact police if they believe they have any information."

Anyone with information should call the police on 0345 456 4564 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
