'Trouble' footpaths may be closed

CALLS to close two footpaths that have been blighted by anti-social behaviour are being considered by Peterborough City Council.

CALLS to close two footpaths that have been blighted by anti-social behaviour are being considered by Peterborough City Council.Councillor Chris Ash asked if a footpath at the end of Eastern Close, Dogsthorpe, could be shut off.

Meanwhile, Cllr Yvonne Lowndes requested the closure of a path between Barkston Drive and Nottingham Way, Newark.

Both councillors cited “problems associated with anti-social behaviour affecting nearby residents” as the reason.

A council report said: “The council has a formal process for dealing with such requests and they will be investigated in accordance with this procedure.

“In the meantime, residents have been advised to ensure they report any behaviour that causes harassment, alarm or distress, as this will assist in the identification of the levels and nature of the problems in order to inform an appropriate response to tackling anti-social behaviour.”
