A ROTARIAN has been honoured for his hard work in setting up and running a charity for disabled people in Peterborough. It was during the Rotary Club of Peterborough's Christmas bash when the Paul Harris Fellow, the highest award within Rotary, was presented to James Hopgood in recognition for his commitment in running Peterborough Sailability, a charity which gives disabled people the chance to try sailing.
A group of 84 rotarians and their guests gathered for the club's Christmas celebration.
They were joined by the Salvation Army brass band, which played festive songs and led the group in a Christmas carol sing-along.
President Marcus Horrell said: "The unstinting input to the community throughout the year, and not only at Christmas, by the Salvation Army in their work and Sailability volunteers like James Hopgood helps make Peterborough a better place for everyone."
The evening raised 430 for the Salvation Army, which will be boosted by Gift Aid to more than 500.
