POLICE are to meet concerned residents of a quiet Werrington street after more than 20 complaints about anti-social behaviour.Since January there have been 22 complaints - almost one a week - about anti-social behaviour in the Partridge Grove area of Werrington, which has prompted action from police.
Incidents which have taken place include disputes, nuisance youths and vehicles and theft from vehicles.
The street briefing, which is being held in Partridge Grove, tomorrow at 6pm, is designed to allay the fears of residents and work out the best way of tackling the problems.
Sergeant Alan Bradshaw, from Werrington Police Station, who is leading the briefing alongside other neighbourhood officers, will discuss the issues and concerns with the angry residents.
Alongside residents, who have been invited by post, at the meeting will be their local councillors.
Today, Sgt Bradshaw said: "Anyone who lives in the area, whether they have been a victim or not, is welcome to come along to the briefing.
"Residents will be able to speak to local officers and voice their concerns so we can tackle the problem together."
Werrington North councillor, John Fox, is also urging as many people as possible to attend the briefing, which is a relatively new but popular form of communication between police and residents.
He said: "It is very important to report crime and incidents to the police when they happen and it's very important for people to get down to this type of briefing.
"That way, the police will know what's going on in the area, as they can only do their job if people let them know what their problems are."
Also attending the meeting will be Inspector Johnny Monks, from Leicestershire police, who is keen to see how the briefing works with a view to potentially starting similar events in his area.
There may also be officer exchanges between the forces in future, so each can learn from the other neighbourhood policing methods.
Sgt Bradshaw added: "I am delighted that Inspector Monks has decided to attend and hope he can take away something useful for his own area."
