A PROPOSAL to erect a 15-metre wind turbine at Spalding High School is expected to be rubberstamped today.Planning officers at South Holland District Council have recommended the scheme is approved by the development control committee.

In a design and access statement, the school in Stonegate, Spalding, says it wants to use the turbine to “teach sustainability and environmental concern to the pupils”.

Electricity generated by the turbine will be used at the school, but will not exclusively power the site.

The turbine has been opposed by Spalding and District Civic Society and neighbours, who have complained about potential noise.
