Sailor Bryan earns just reward with Sailability trophy

IT WAS trophy time for Peterborough Sailability at Ferry Meadows.

IT WAS trophy time for Peterborough Sailability at Ferry Meadows. The event was to mark three successful seasons of sailing for disabled people and award the Moseley Trophy to the member who had done most to support and develop the club.

Roger Moseley, one of the founder members, came up from Devon, especially to award the trophy, which he had donated to the club. This year it went to Bryan Rowley, who has worked tirelessly for Sailability, including offering use of his own Challenger trimaran.

Seventy sailors, helpers and supporters turned up to admire the new approach paths and slipway installed specially by the Nene Park Trust, and the new hut.

Chairman James Hopgood said: “We are providing an exciting experience for people from various sources, including Day Centres, Phoenix School and Longueville Court, as well as our individual regulars.

“Our main financial support so far has come from the local Rotary clubs – four of them in Peterborough, plus Whittlesey and Oundle, for which we are very grateful.”
