Roadworks cause traffic jams

ROADWORKS caused chaos in the city during the evening rush-hour yesterday.

ROADWORKS caused chaos in the city during the evening rush-hour yesterday.Major projects on the Fletton Parkway, Nene Parkway and Oundle Road caused queues of traffic and long delays.

And motorists can expect similar problems today in the Friday evening rush-hour.

A 40mph speed limit has been imposed on the Fletton Parkway, while work to widen the dual-carriageway to three lanes gathers pace.

Meanwhile, on the Thorpe Bridge stretch of the Nene Parkway, a lane is closed in each direction, as well as 40mph limits being imposed.

And Oundle Road is currently a one-way street, due to a 3 million EDF Energy project to lay new underground cables.

Traffic can travel westbound along Oundle Road, but eastbound motorists are taken on a lengthy diversion via New Road and London Road.
