Police launch early raid on drug factory
A MAN who was sleeping on the kitchen floor of a house being used as a drug factory was given a nasty wake up call by police this morning.
A MAN who was sleeping on the kitchen floor of a house being used as a drug factory was given a nasty wake up call by police this morning.As part of their making a difference week in the Millfield area, police stormed the property in Clarence Road and uncovered a cannabis factory.
Even the toilet and bath had been ripped out of the bathroom at the house to make space for more plants.
Police wearing protective clothing battered down the door while it was still dark, waking what is believed to have been Vietnamese man in his 20s.
He was sleeping on a makeshift bed which comprised of a thin mattress placed on top of a wooden door. Once inside the house officers discovered five rooms packed with an estimated 600 to 700 plants at different stages of growth, with a potential street value of around 90,000.
DC Shanie Nayar, heading up the raid, said: "There were a good number of plants at this property."
She went on to say that it was likely that more raids would be carried out in the future.
