Gunthorpe: POLICE are set to hold a series of street crime prevention sessions in response to a spate of vehicle crime and burglary. The sessions will take place in Gunthorpe this week, and will see officers from Werrington police station providing home security advice, offering Smartwater kits and marking property.

Since October last year, there have been 27 vehicle crimes reported in Gunthorpe and 11 burglaries.

The sessions will be held between 4pm and 7pm in Uldale Way on Tuesday, Caldbeck Close on Wednesday, Kendal Close on Thursday, and Swale Avenue on Friday.

Sergeant Alan Bradshaw, who will be joined by members of the community safety unit from Bridge Street police station, said: "Anyone who lives in Gunthorpe, whether they have been a victim or not, is invited to attend one of the sessions.

"We are always working to catch those responsible for burglary and carry out regular patrols, but we also want to encourage people to take their own crime prevention precautions and make their homes more secure."
