Ortons: Police follow lead on thefts

POLICE are closing in on some suspects who could be responsible for a wave of shed burglaries in an area of Orton Goldhay.

POLICE are closing in on some suspects who could be responsible for a wave of shed burglaries in an area of Orton Goldhay.A group of teenagers is thought to be responsible for a number of thefts from sheds in Braybrook and Clayton over the past few weeks.

PCSOs last week handed out leaflets advising residents on how best to protect their belongings in their sheds.

Bikes appear to be a popular target with the thieves, who are believed to use cutting equipment to remove padlocks.

A police spokesman said officers were currently monitoring a number of suspects in connection with the burglaries.

The lead came after three bikes stolen from some of the sheds were recovered by police. Anyone with more information call 0345 456 456 4.
