AN opportunity to plan funeral arrangements – either for yourself or for your loved ones – is being offered by the city council's bereavement services team at Peterborough Crematorium, on Saturday. An open day is being held from 10am until 4pm, and advice will given on a wide range of bereavement services.

There will be opportunities to tour the crematorium and to obtain information about floral displays, pre-paid funeral plans, memorials and choices about cremation and burial.

Funeral directors and other organisations will also have displays of their services.

Refreshments will be available and there will be activities, including a wildlife competition for children. Donations will be collected for the East Anglia Children’s Hospice charity.

Bereavement services team manager David Adams said he and his colleagues will be happy to answer any questions members of the public may have.

He said: “We hope this open day will provide an opportunity for people to obtain all the information they need so that we can dispel many myths about the service.

“With a little thought and pre-planning, they can save themselves or their relatives a great deal of distress at what is naturally an emotionally distressing time.”
