New yoga centre opens doors

THE city's first yoga centre has officially been opened to the public.

THE city's first yoga centre has officially been opened to the public. The Equilibrium Centre, in Shrewsbury Avenue, is offering a range of classes to cater for all abilities six days a week.

The building was previously used by the Eastern Electricity Board, but has gone through a huge conversion project, including raising ceilings, replacing walls and fitting underfloor heating.

In addition to yoga, the facility will be used for a range of holistic therapies.

The project has been in the planning stages for 15 months, with owner Sandra Heider first having the idea three years ago.

She said: “It’s great to finally have the centre open. We had lots of people through the doors for the official opening, many of them saying the area really needed a yoga centre.

“Due to the style of the old building we had to do a massive conversion project. I’m very pleased with the way it has turned out. I think it looks great.

“We offer different styles and levels of yoga, so will have something to suit everyone. We’re making some holistic treatments available, such as Thai and shiatsu massage.

“I’m excited to get under way, it’s such a nice centre and I can’t wait to get going. We’ve got lots of workshops and events planned for the next few weeks and we’re looking at offering more therapies in the near future.”

n Anyone interested in attending classes at the centre should call 01733 245050.
