Mum's charity weight loss plan

A MUM-of-two plans to lose more than five stone while raising hundreds of pounds for a charity close to her heart.

A MUM-of-two plans to lose more than five stone while raising hundreds of pounds for a charity close to her heart.Weighing in at 15 stone and 4lbs, Diane Thompson, of Bowness Way, Gunthorpe, Peterborough, decided it was time for a change and set herself the target of losing five-and-a-half stone by May next year.

The 49-year-old has got herself a personal trainer and joined the Fitness First gym, in Westfield Road, in a bid to bring her weight down.

Ms Thompson, who also has two grandchildren, said: “I decided there was no hurry so I have given myself plenty of time to do it.

“If just lose a pound a week I will reach my target.

“I have chosen to raise money for the British Heart Foundation because both my parents suffered from heart problems and I also have high blood pressure.

“My partner likes me the way I am but this is something I need to do for myself.”

Ms Thompson, who has shown her determination and commitment by giving up smoking in November last year, has already raised about 400 from friends, relatives and family but hopes to increase funds with the help of the public.

n Anyone who would like to sponsor Diane can send a cheque, made payable to the British Heart Foundation, to Diane Thompson, c/o Budget Car and Rental, Unit 7, Brassey Close, Lincoln Road, Peterborough, PE1 2AZ.
