A PETERBOROUGH MP has got to grips with state-of-the-art technology used by a city charity to help blind and partially-sighted people.MP for North West Cambridgeshire Shailesh Vara visited the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) offices, in Orton Southgate, Peterborough, to try out some of the equipment developed by the charity.

Along with information about helping people who have lost their sight, Dyslexia Action was also on hand to offer advice on tackling the condition.

Mr Vara also got the chance to see some of the charity’s guide dogs in action at the open day.

Mr Vara said: “This is an excellent way to raise awareness of all that these organisations do.

“It is also an opportunity to see how modern technology can help people with sight difficulties.

“I congratulate the organisers on their efforts to raise the profile of this very worthwhile cause.”
