A MOTORIST has lost her licence after police caught her driving at 118mph on a road near Peterborough.Amanda Adie (40) was handed a 50-day ban and fined 315 by city magistrates after she admitted speeding along the A47 near Thorney in May.

The court heard the hospital physiotherapist had been in a rush to collect her daughter from Peterborough railway station when she was clocked breaking the road's 70mph speed limit in her Audi TT.

Oliver Barrett, mitigating, said Adie, of Earsham Drive, King's Lynn, had only recently bought the car and was not used to its power. She has since sold it.
