Motorbikes found in river clear-out
FOUR skiploads of rubbish, including a bed and motorcyles, has been removed from a waterway connecting the Deepings to Spalding.
The Environment Agency carried out the clean of the River Welland and Coronation Channel in Spalding recently as it refurbishes flood defence piles on the waterway.
Items taken from the river include tyres, traffic cones, shopping trolleys, a bed and even motorcycles.
Alec Ambridge-Richardson, operations delivery team leader, said: “We have had to lower the river level to carry out the works.
“As a result, we have taken the opportunity to remove a large volume of rubbish from the river while the works are taking place.”
The work will continue over the next week.

Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 04:39 PMDoes nobody care in our area any more? How can you show people from other parts of the world around the area with any sense of pride? Now that the roadside vegetation has died down a bit have a look and see the amount of rubbish that is simply thrown from cars and lorries especially near junctions. It makes me wonder what state some people keep their homes in.
