Man, 18, seriously hurt in stabbing

AN 18-year-old man was seriously hurt after being stabbed in the chest during a fight in the Orton Malborne area of Peterborough.

AN 18-year-old man was seriously hurt after being stabbed in the chest during a fight in the Orton Malborne area of Peterborough.The man, who has not been named by police, suffered one stab wound to the left side of his chest.

Police say that, despite his injuries, the man managed to walk home from where he alerted emergency services.

It is thought the attack occurred in Eldern, in Orton Malborne, at about 3pm on Thursday (25 June).

The emergency services were called shortly afterwards at about 3.15pm from a property in Lythemere, Orton Malborne.

The Magpas air ambulance was sent up and the injured man was taken to Peterborough District Hospital.

Police carried out detailed searches of the area where the attack is thought to have taken place.

Officers also quizzed a number of people in the area in a bid to piece together how the incident had happened.

A police spokesman said: "Two people, who are believed to have been known to each other, had an altercation, during which an 18-year-old man suffered stab wounds.

"His injuries are serious, but not life threatening, and he is believed to have walked home and then called an ambulance."

He added: "The victim has been able to speak fully to police today and give a full account of what happened.

"Police have also been interviewing medical staff at the hospital as well.

"If there's anyone who hasn't been spoken to by police, but did witness something then please call police on 0345 4564 564."

The Magpas team, Dr Simon Lewis and paramedic Simon Standen, treated the youngster at the scene, before he was taken to Peterborough District Hospital by land ambulance.

Dr Lewis said: "With an incident like this it is essential our charity's team is on hand to make sure the patient receives the right treatment at the scene."

The victim's condition was described as serious, but stable and he remains in the hospital today.

A 15-year-old male has been arrested and is being questioned by police in Peterborough on suspicion of attempted murder.
