Like father like son for Rotary president
THIRTY-TWO years after his father was President of the Rotary Club of Peterborough, Marcus Horrell has become the latest top man. Club presidents hold the position for 12 months.
THIRTY-TWO years after his father was President of the Rotary Club of Peterborough, Marcus Horrell has become the latest top man. Club presidents hold the position for 12 months.Marcus, seen here sharing a joke with senior vice president Maureen McKenna, said among the other local good causes Rotary supports he especially wishes to focus on cancer care. Peterborough’s Cancer Care Centre, at Edith Cavell Hospital, is named after his father Robert Horrell BEM (British Empire Medal) for his generous work in supporting it.
Marcus’s father also founded Peterborough’s Firework Fiesta, and Rotary is already well into planning this year’s city Guy Fawkes spectacular.
He said: “There is an emphasis on fellowship and fun at Rotary, and we offer a warm welcome to any newcomers wishing to get involved.
“And our charity projects, large or small, are always worthwhile.”
