Jack Hunt School is unveiling a laboratory in memory of a former pupil who overcame disabilty to shine in science.The family of Amit Mehta will be at the opening of the lab, which bears their son's name, at Jack Hunt School, Netherton, on Wednesday, at 6.30pm.

The 25-year-old Leeds University student died in 2005.

He was profoundly deaf, partially sighted and suffered from diabetes and anaemia, which required regular blood transfusions.

Despite the challenges, Amit had to overcome, he graduated with a 2:1.
