POSH legend Ken Charlery says he has been overwhelmed by the messages of support from friends and fans following the shooting of his teenage son.It is hoped that Kenny (18) will be taken off sedation today following the horrific drive-by shooting in an east London Street on Monday.
His dad (43), dubbed King Ken by Peterborough United fans, said today: “I am very grateful to everyone who has been sending me text messages and wishes of support. They have been tremendous.
“Hopefully he will be taken off sedation today. All we can do is wait.”
Kenny was shot in the head as he drove along Downs Park Road, Hackney, with his girlfriend, Samantha.
It is believed that a vehicle containing two people pulled up alongside his green Fiat, someone shot him, and then sped off.
The incident happened at about 8.10pm, as the youngster was parking up near his mother’s home.
Kenny is being treated in The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, and his dad has been keeping a vigil at his bedside.
Peterborough United, who Ken played for in the early ’90s, have offered messages of sympathy and support to him.
