HUNDREDS of stressed city shoppers got the chance to relax with a free meditation day.

The Sahaja Yoga team were on hand in Bridge Street to offer people the chance to unwind for a few minutes using some meditation techniques.Brian Virgo, who runs the meditation events, said: "It was a free meditation day and the response was excellent. We had hundreds of people stop to try it out and it went really well.

"It is really very easy and anyone can do it. Once you stop and relax for 10 minutes you really feel your body changing and you become extremely relaxed.

"The sessions are all free, so everyone should come down and give it a go."

Free meditation sessions are held at Thorpe Primary School, in Atherstone Avenue, Netherton, Peterborough, every Wednesday.

After a summer break, the sessions begin again on September 6, between 7.45pm and 9.45pm.
