I'm A Celebrity: Posh star defends Nicola after a difficult day in jungle

POSH star Tom Williams has spoken out in defence of fianc Nicola McLean after her most difficult day since going into the I'm A Celebrity jungle. In the space of 24 hours, Nicola has been involved in arguments in the campsite and came face-to-face with her worst nightmares in two difficult trials.

Prior to her jaunt in the jungle, the 25-year-old mum-of-one said she was afraid of creepy crawlies and was also claustrophobic.

And last night, Nicola had to confront both of those fears when she took part in the latest Bushtucker Trial, Cavern of Calamity.

After being barricaded into a cave, Nicola had to blindly search for stars while rats, spiders and bugs ran all over her.

Clearly worried, she said: "I'm so petrified, I could cry. This show is turning me into a nervous wreck, I could honestly cry.

"It's my greatest fears, dark and claustrophobic, I'm genuinely petrified."

In the end, Nicola managed to find three out of the 12 stars on offer and said: "I feel I've let everyone down, that was really tough."

Tom, speaking before heading off to Swindon for Posh's big game tonight, said: "I think she did alright, it wasn't the easiest trial. She gave it her best shot in a trial that was more luck then judgement."

Later on, the Page 3 model took part in her first Bush Battle in a bid to win immunity against Robert Kilroy-Silk and Timmy Mallett.

Called Up To Your Neck, each of three celebrities had to climb inside a tank, which was slowly filled with smelly gunk. Robert was the first to leave his tank, before Nicola who protested at being cold followed him back to camp, which left Timmy the victor. Nicola now has one last chance to win immunity before this week's first elimination.

Back at camp and following earlier arguments with David Van Day and Timmy, Nicola was finding it all too much and burst into tears in front of her watching fellow celebrities.

Tom added: "Teasing people about what they are going to be doing in a trial is going to set people off, but I'm glad to see some people like Robert and Simon sticking up for her. David seems a bit vindictive.

"Obviously tempers are going to flare, it's going to start boiling over and things can set people off."

Tom also thought presenters Ant and Dec could have given Nicola more help during the trial.

"There was nothing from Ant and Dec which was surprising. When David didn't know where he was going they told him what to do."
