Health bosses' thanks for new Peterborough hospital views
HOSPITAL chiefs have thanked everyone who took part in a survey to help shape the site of Peterborough District Hospital.
HOSPITAL chiefs have thanked everyone who took part in a survey to help shape the site of Peterborough District Hospital.People were canvassed for their views on the planning brief for the future regeneration of the site in Thorpe Road.
The hospital is set to be decommissioned as a new multi-million pound super-hospital takes shape on the Edith Cavell Hospital site in Bretton.
The 12-week exercise closed in June, and an independent report containing all the views expressed by the public has now been published in the news section of the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's website at www.peterboroughandstamford.nhs.uk
The views contained in the report will help to inform the planning brief that will be agreed with Peterborough City Council, planned for this autumn.
When Peterborough City Hospital opens in late 2010, the District Hospital will be decommissioned, and the land will be available for redevelopment.
The planning brief is a set of guidelines and any future development proposal would still have to go through a statutory planning application process, involving formal public consultation led by Peterborough City Council.
The new 335 million hospital with 612 beds and 4,000 rooms will be handed over to the Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in about September next year, with the first patients being treated in November 2010.
