Have a say on cancer services
PATIENTS in Peterborough are being encouraged to have their say on proposals for improving services for pancreatic cancer patients.
PATIENTS in Peterborough are being encouraged to have their say on proposals for improving services for pancreatic cancer patients.A period of public consultation is currently under way, during which time people have the opportunity to get involved and put forward their views, either by post, online or by attending a public Discovery Event, one of which will be held in Peterborough on Thursday, May 28, at Longthorpe Memorial Hall, in Thorpe Road.
At the event there will be a morning drop-in session between 10am and noon, where people can chat informally with NHS professionals, and an afternoon discussion workshop where proposals will be discussed in greater detail.
People are being encouraged to pop along for a chat in the morning or to book their place at the afternoon workshop.
The NHS is proposing a change in the way specialised services are organised to treat this rare, but high-risk cancer. The proposed developments involve designating a single specialised team based in a specialised centre that serves a population of about 3.2 million people in the East of England.
Further Discovery Events are being held in Bedford, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Colchester, Cromer, Great Yarmouth, Ipswich, King's Lynn, and Norwich throughout May.
