UPDATE 8AM: The green recycling bin service is operating as normal today, according to Peterborough City Council on day one of the strike.Most, if not all green bins will be emptied, so all green bins should be left out for collection.

However, black refuse bins and brown organic bins will not be emptied today and these should be removed from the street and put out tomorrow unless instructed otherwise.

Peterborough City Council's latest news on affected services:

Hampton College will be closed to students on both days.

The Register Office will continue to meet statutory deadlines for registering births and deaths. However, there will only be limited appointments available on these two days and people are asked to avoid calling the office on either 16 July or 17 July to make appointments

Private housing services, community safety, supporting people and the drug and alcohol action teams will operate as usual but customers may experience some minor delays when contacting them by telephone

The housing options service desk within the customer service centre will be closed. If you have an emergency homeless situation then come into the customer service centre reception and ask to telephone a housing options officer, for any other enquiries please wait until Friday or next week.

Street cleansing and grounds maintenance will be operating a limited service on both days

It is likely there will be a significant disruption to Travelchoice branded public transport services, further information will be provided on both days.
