A HARRY Potter fan who named himself after a JK Rowling villain has been ordered to wear an electronic tag after threatening to break a female paramedic's jaw.In a disturbing night-time attack, 24-year-old Lord Voldemort launched a volley of foul-mouthed threats and abuse at the ambulance worker as she treated the victim of an assault.

Voldemort, who used to be known as Benjamin Burt before he changed his name by deed poll, was arrested after the terrified paramedic hit her panic button and help arrived.

After pleading guilty to a public order offence at Spalding Magistrates' Court, he was ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and given a three-month overnight curfew with an electronic tag – a sentence which has been welcomed by East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS).

Specialist security manager Nick Arnold said: "The sentence given is wholly appropriate given the levels of abuse displayed by Voldemort on that night to a paramedic who was only doing her job.

"It is totally unacceptable for a person to level any form of abuse against a member of emergency services staff, and it will not be tolerated."

Voldemort, who is named after the arch enemy of Harry Potter played by Ralph Fiennes in the movie series, carried out the attack at about 8pm on Friday, October 3 last year.

The paramedic had been sent to New Road in Spalding in a Fast Response Vehicle after a 999 caller reported a man had been assaulted and that his assailant had fled the scene.

But as she tried to treat the attack victim in the street, she was approached by a group of three men including Voldemort, of Rowan Avenue, Spalding.

An EMAS spokesman said: "The three men were intoxicated and quickly began to get hostile. She asked the men to leave the area so she could treat the man.

"At this point, Lord Voldemort directed a volley of abuse at her, threatening to break her jaw and cause her harm."

The paramedic raised the alarm by pressing the panic button on her hand-held radio, and another ambulance crew quickly came to her aid along with police.

Voldemort was subsequently charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and received the 12-month community supervision order after admitting the offence.

He was also ordered to attend an alcohol misuse programme, to stay at his home address between 7pm and 7am every night for three months, and to pay 100 compensation to his victim.

Michael Alexander, defending, told the court Voldemort, whose middle names are Lucifer Beelzebub, had been struggling with alcoholism and said he was a "polite young man" when sober.
