Hampton Nature Reserve

Green spaces: Hampton Nature Reserve, to the south of Peterborough is home to Europe’s largest population of great crested newts.

The site is a Special Area of Conservation as well as being a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Froglife is proud to manage Hampton Nature Reserve, a three hundred acre (122 hectare) site, home to Europe’s largest population of great crested newts.

Working closely with landowners O&H Hampton and the Heritage Lottery Fund, Froglife has helped develop Hampton Nature Reserve into a successful case-study of how multi-discipline partners can work together in the conservation of amphibians, reptiles and their habitats.
