Gunthorpe: Fathers go back to school

MORE than 90 dads and carers spent a day bonding with their children at school.

MORE than 90 dads and carers spent a day bonding with their children at school.Staff at Gunthorpe Primary School in The Pentlands, Gunthorpe, Peterborough, invited them along as part of Father's Day last week.

Dads and carers spent time in the classroom and outside helping to develop the school's grounds.

They helped their children to dig out two large vegetable plots and cleared an environmental area which is going to be revamped into a sensory garden.

They then took part in a scarecrow making competition before enjoying a hot canteen lunch or their own picnic with their sons and daughters.

Headteacher Kay Corley said: "The children loved having their dads, grandads, brothers, uncles or carers in for the day. It allowed the children to show their dads around their school and spend some extra time with them.

"We are also very grateful to them for helping us to clear the school grounds.

"We have received a lot of positive feedback and expect to make it a yearly event."
