A NEW patient group has been set up in Peterborough to help residents with long-term lung disorders. The Breathe Easy group was launched at the Thomas Walker Medical Centre, in Princes Street, by the British Lung Foundation and city health care professionals, and brought together about 30 patients and carers with various lung conditions.
Patients were given the chance to pick up information and chat to professional medical staff, including a chest consultant from Peterborough District Hospital.
Development officer at the British Lung Foundation Clair Evans said: “Having a lung disease can be a frightening and isolating experience, and the Breathe Easy group provides a great opportunity to self-support, and talk to health care professionals.”
Geoff Barnett, a Peterborough patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and vice chairman of the group said: “I am so pleased that this group is being set up.”
