OLYMPIC runners may use batons, but at Braybrook Primary School the youngsters used boxes and bottles to complete their own recycling relay.Pupils at the school, in Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, took part in a fun “green” day to introduce the school’s new recycling bins.

Headteacher Nikki Lamond said: “Each class swapped their usual lessons for recycling themed activities. The council’s recycling team came along and explained what could be recycled or reused and in which bins to put them.”

Community engagement officer Kirsty Martin, who visited the school alongside colleagues Samantha King and Emma Blakely, said: “As part of National Recycling Weeks we tried to visit schools we had not visited before. We had a great day at Braybrook Primary School.”
