VOLUNTARY and community groups in Peterborough are being urged to come forward and claim a slice of 225,000 funding.Officials of the Government-backed Grassroots Grants aim to help groups with funding, whether it is for new kit, coaching volunteers or simply giving the village hall a fresh lick of paint.

The Cambridgeshire Community Foundation has been awarded 225,000 by the Government to make grants from between 250 and 5,000 in a straightforward way, to groups with annual incomes below 20,000.

Minister for the Third Sector Phil Hope said: “Peterborough is full of small groups and individuals who work tirelessly to tackle local problems, and part of this fund is dedicated to supporting their efforts.”
