A FORKLIFT truck driver who died after his vehicle toppled over and trapped him has today been named by police.Shaun Porter (32), of Exeter Close, Bourne, was working at the Tunnel Bank Industrial Estate, on the outskirts of the town, when the accident happened at 8.40am on Wednesday.

He was working for Trackline International Ltd, a company involved in the manufacture of tracks for quarry and other heavy machinery.

Following the accident, paramedics and fire and rescue crews from Bourne and Market Deeping were called to the company’s base at the junction of Tunnel Bank Road and Spalding Road.

Attempts were made to free Mr Porter using blocks, wedges and cutting equipment, but, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is still unclear what caused the truck to topple over, and Lincolnshire police and the Health and Safety Executive are carrying out a joint investigation.

Lincolnshire police have informed the coroner, who will also be conducting an investigation, and an inquest will be opened in due course.
