Team-mates of Karl Mazurek, who died of a brain aneurysm aged just 34, paid tribute to their former striker by staging a memorial football match on Sunday.Karl, of Pittneys, Paston, Peterborough, was a top goalscorer in the Sunday afternoon league, and had been apparently fit and healthy, but collapsed and died hours after a family day out on June 14.
And his team-mates from Coopers FC, with "Mazurek" emblazoned across the back of their new shirts as a special tribute, ran out at Werrington Sports Centre to take on a Karl Mazurek 11, made up of his former managers and ex-players.
His partner, Amanda Cunningham (30), and his children, Corey (10) and Ethan (7), and Amanda's children, Shannon (12) and Kyle (13), were fully supportive of the football match held in Karl's memory and some members of Corey and Ethan's team, Riverside Rovers, also took part.
