Five years without a day off sick

THEY say your school days are the best days of your life, and one Peterborough pupil certainly seems to think so.Year 11 Orton Longueville School pupil, Alison Plumb has not had a day off school in five years, which adds up to an unusual 950 continuous days of schooling.

Alison (15), from Orton Malborne, played down her achievement saying: “I have no idea how I have managed it, I just don’t seem to get that sick.”

With two older sisters having had previously good attendance it would seem Alison had something to live up to

She added: “Everyone thinks it’s amazing I have not had a day off and my parents definitely think it’s a good thing.”

Year 11 team leader Lynn Overton, said: “I’ve known Alison since she arrived at our school. Five years without an absence is a fantastic achievement. We are very proud of her.”

Headteacher John Catton will certainly be hoping this is a record other pupils might like to aim at.

He said: “I congratulate her on her outstanding achievement.”

The pupil plans to try and continue her run by staying on at the sixth form to study A-Levels. Eventually, she intends to study journalism.

She said: “I’m quite nosy and I like writing, so being a journalist would be great. I hope I can keep up the 100 per cent record.”
