AS the music professor in the latest Harry Potter film, Warwick Davis was propelled to superstardom.However, in his next movie, a re-make of a cult classic book and TV series, he is really set to fly into orbit.
The Peterborough-based actor, who is also a Star Wars veteran, has won a major role in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The story, which sees space journeyman Arthur Dent swept off Earth seconds before the planet is destroyed, is set to be released next summer.
And Warwick believes it will be a sure fire hit.
He said: "I think it is going to be the big box office smash of the summer.
"It really is a great film and I am really excited about it.
"Usually I play films down before they are released, so that tells you how good I think this is.
"I will be playing Marvin the Paranoid Android, which is a great part in a really funny script."
Warwick is part of an all-star cast which includes, rapper Mos Def as Ford Prefect, The Office's Martin Freeman as Arthur Dent, John Malkovich as Humma Kavula, Oscar-nominated Bill Nighy as Slartibartfast, and Sam Rockwell as Zaphod Beeblebrox.
It is being produced by American company Spyglass Entertainment.
Douglas Adams, who wrote the original pocket guide to life, the universe, and everything, died in 2001, but he had already written the screenplay for the new film.
Warwick said: "This is a great role for me and a really funny film.
"We've started filming and, just being on set you get an idea of how funny the film is, I think it will be a big hit next summer."
