Family fun at centre's opening

FAMILIES are invited to enjoy a day of fun activities to celebrate the official opening of the Ormiston East Children's Centre.

FAMILIES are invited to enjoy a day of fun activities to celebrate the official opening of the Ormiston East Children's Centre. The centre, in Durham Road, Peterborough, is run by the Ormiston Children and Families Trust on behalf of Peterborough City council.

It has been up and running since last year, but is only now having an official opening on Saturday, July 18, which will be marked with an open day of activities for all the family, from 11am to 2.30pm.

There will be plenty of fun which parents and children can enjoy together, including gardening, a mini Olympics run by the city council's sports development team, and the chance to get creative with a graffiti artist.

Centre co-ordinator Qamer Nisa said: “We are looking forward to welcoming new families to the centre who will be able to see the facilities we have on offer and the activities we provide.”

City council cabinet member for children's services councillor Sheila Scott said: “The centres provide support to many families, and this open day will be a great chance to raise awareness of their work.”
